Ron Paul Delegates in Maine Still Fighting: GOP says “Only half.”

On Thursday, Aug. 23, Republican National Committee voted to support a compromise that would seat 10 Maine delegates pledged to presidential candidate Ron Paul and 10 alternate delegates, according to Maine Republican Party Chairman Charlie Webster.

UPDATE: iroots.org has learned that the Republican Party of Iowa will donate guest passes to the Maine Delegates who are shut out. Unfortunately, they will not be able to vote which gives Paul supporters good reason to continue this fight. If you are a wronged delegate from Maine, contact Steve Bierfeldt via Facebook here.

Mark Willis, a Maine delegate supporting Paul, and Maine’s elected GOP national committeeman, is disappointed by the news. And even though the Republican National Committee says it will make the choices for them if the Paul supporters cannot agree, Willis says the fight is far from over.

“This isn’t the end of it because what’s going to happen is the Ron Paul campaign is going to appeal this to the Credentials Committee, and they’re going to take this all the way to the Credentials Committee, which goes into the weekend, perhaps even until Monday,” Willis says.

Cody Morgan is probably the youngest delegate from Maine and he’s on his way to Maine right now. I had a chance to interview Cody right after the caucuses. If this doesn’t inspire you about the future, I don’t know what will!

For a little bit of context, here’s an interview with Caucus Chairman, Matt McDonald who blew the whistle on shenanigans in Maine right after the caucus. You can get to know more of the delegates here.
