GOP earthquake continues

*Check back for updates…The Republican party (and some notable Democrats) continues to grapple with the emergence of Rand ‘Paul-ism’ and the tremors following the revelations of the NSA spying on innocent Americans.  Here are a few notable headlines from over the weekend to share and take note of:

UPDATE(s) 7/28/13 Glenn Greenwald lays down the gauntlet, “NSA officials are going to be testifying before the Senate on Wednesday, and I defy them to deny that these programs work exactly as I just said.” (After saying low level NSA grunts and private contractors can listen to calls and see anyone’s emails and browsing history.)

“The GOP is going to ‘have this out.'”

Peter King continues to be completely freaked out about Sen. Paul:

Rand Paul blasted back on Facebook, “Peter King, from the Democrat Wing of the Republican Party, wants to send your tax dollars to foreign despots and to countries that burn our flag. I don’t.”

Must see new polling data…

Greenwald will testify before Congress on Wed:

What do you know?!

Lawmakers Who Upheld NSA Phone Spying Received Double the Defense Industry Cash

(Wired 7/26/13) The numbers tell the story — in votes and dollars. On Wednesday, the house voted 217 to 205 not to rein in the NSA’s phone-spying dragnet. It turns out that those 217 “no” voters received twice as much campaign financing from the defense and intelligence industry as the 205 “yes” voters.

Lawmakers who voted to continue the NSA dragnet-surveillance program averaged $41,635 from the pot, whereas House members who voted to repeal authority averaged $18,765.

And Fox doesn’t know what quite to do…
Except, Eric Bolling is “done” with Chris Christie after attack on Rand Paul: “You’ve lost a fan in me, sir.”

Of course, Krauthammer found Christie’s remarks “electrifying!”

Info-babe thinks the constitution’s job is to “keep us safe.”
