Bob Dylan’s 2015 Tour: Don’t miss it

I recently took a short vacation down to South Carolina. It started out with the excuse of helping a friend do some moving, but when he backed out because of a job interview, it was pretty clear that I just needed some escape time. The Drive down from Indiana into South Carolina through the Smokey Mountains was intoxicating.

I hope to post more about my adventures in South Carolina, but I want to get to my point. See the Bob Dylan tour. I was in Charleston and I had no idea that Bob Dylan was on tour until the owner of a local pub mentioned it casually in conversation. I didn’t have time to stay till Friday, but I did have the time to drive 2 hours to Savannah, GA to catch the show that evening.

I’ve seen Bob Dylan about 20 times–I’ll have to really count them up when I have the time! This was one of the better shows. I decided to go because of the reviews found over at the site ExpectingRain.com. My observations are that Bob Dylan has finally decided to stop pretending to (still) be a rock star. It’s like a moody poetry reading with a dark western-swing vibe.

I figured it would help to make a playlist of the songs he did for those who want to catch the tour. (It helps to know the words–some of these songs are more obscure and, of course, the arrangements are radically different!) And he is doing this set list every night with only 1 variation that I know of. Check out the tour schedule here. Enjoy the playlist

These are the songs in the order Dylan did them in Savannah, GA on Tuesday, April 14th 2015:

Here’s a review from Bob Links.

It was several years between shows for me. Bob’s trips to Georgia have
become scarcer than they were in the early-mid 2000s. My first opportunity
to see him at the grand piano. The visuals were fantastic.. Lighting
effects were very dramatic with the shadows of the curtains et al. I
noticed he keeps the band almost hidden in the shadows. during the show
and for the bows at the end. His Chaplinesque movements always delight.
After Love Sick Bob said..”Thank you.we’re leaving the stage for little
while (and very quickly added) we’ll be back”.

The second set was amazing. Bob rolled up his sleeves and delivered the
goods. The band no longer needs cajoling from him.. They know what he
wants. The melding of notes between the piano and guitar. or piano and
pedal steel produces a quite unique sound. Mesmerizing. I know one thing..
I won’t wait as long to catch him again..
