Laurie Anderson’s 1986 film, Home of the Brave, a documentation of her Mister Heartbreak concert tour, was shot in Union City, NJ, in the summer of 1985, at the Park Theater. It is difficult to get a hold of in any format–so, for many, a Youtube will have to do.
Although the material is somewhat dated, it’s a real showcase of how her performances were at the cutting edge of computer animation and musical effects throughout the 80s. And, hey, it features Laurie dancing with a real live William S. Burroughs.
Just perfect for a weird music Wednesday! (Be sure to click the settings on the video to view at 480p.)
