#SethRich goes Mainstream (live blog)

Americans woke up to #SethRich this morning. It’s currently the third most popular hashtag on Twitter and may keep rising if it’s not censored. If true, the allegations and implications are so radioactive that it could spell the end of the Democratic Party.

What’s the story?

The Democratic National Committee staffer who was gunned down on July 10 on a Washington, D.C., street just steps from his home had leaked thousands of internal emails to WikiLeaks, investigative sources told Fox News.

A federal investigator who reviewed an FBI forensic report — generated within 96 hours after DNC staffer Seth Rich’s murder — detailing the contents Rich’s computer said he made contact with WikiLeaks through Gavin MacFadyen, a now-deceased American investigative reporter, documentary filmmaker, and director of WikiLeaks who was living in London at the time. Update: It should be noted that Seth Rich’s family has not confirmed these new allegations.

Rich’s family said private investigator Rod Wheeler’s assertions were “unsubstantiated claims,” saying that they “see no facts, we have seen no evidence, we have been approached with no emails and only learned about this when contacted by the press.”

“Even if tomorrow, an email was found, it is not a high enough bar of evidence to prove any interactions as emails can be altered and we’ve seen that those interested in pushing conspiracies will stop at nothing to do so,” the family said in a statement.
