CPAC, Paul(s) and Tax Cut Baloney
Some thoughts for today;
Movement toward Liberty: With Rand Paul’s CPAC Straw Poll win it is evident that the Republican Party is beginning to move in the direction of liberty. Although the vote was close, (25% for Paul and 23% for second place finisher Rubio) it was a solid win that shows that many of the party activists are searching for someone who will actually stand for something, not just spew talking points during election season. The fact that liberty activists once again showed up for the premier conservative conference in the nation really can be credited with Senator Paul’s father, former Congressman Ron Paul. The senior Paul truly changed the debate and conversation in the country and has made fighting for liberty popular once again. Now it is common to hear sitting U.S. Senators, Representatives and many other elected officials decry the Federal Reserve and discuss a more pro defense foreign policy. Just a few years ago that would be unheard of. The conversation has changed and the Republican Party has begun to as well.
Tax Cut Baloney: Whenever the issue of tax cuts come up at least in my area, one of the classic arguments that is thrown up against it is that the amount that would be returned to the taxpayers is “too small” to make much of a difference in the peasants pocketbook. Besides the fact that it is outrages that government officials claim the knowledge of the exact amount of dollars that a citizen is entitled to, the money would do much more to help the economy in the hands of the private individual then in the pockets of fat cat politicians. Government does not have the knowledge nor the ability to run the economy. That should be left to the beauty of the free market.
