Dr. Kermit Gosnell Found Guilty of Murdering Baby A, Baby C and Baby D
After 10 days of deliberations, today, a jury has found the abortion doctor Kermit Gosnell guilty of three counts of first-degree murder for the deaths of three infants born alive at his clinic. He was also convicted of involuntary manslaughter for the death of Karnamaya Mongar, a 41-year-old from Bhutan who died after he performed an abortion.
The New York Times elaborates…
The case turned on whether the late-term pregnancies Dr. Gosnell terminated resulted in live births. His lawyer, Jack McMahon, argued that because Dr. Gosnell injected a drug in utero to stop the heart, the deliveries were stillbirths, and movements that witnesses testified to observing — a jerked arm, a cry, swimming motions — were mere spasms.
But after deliberating 10 days, the jury found Dr. Gosnell guilty in the deaths of victims known as Baby A, Baby C and Baby D. He was found not guilty of murdering Baby E.
Prosecutors have said they will seek the death penalty when the trial moves into the sentencing phase next Tuesday.
The trial has left many wondering; are these isolated events, or are babies frequently abandoned after being born alive? If these reports and undercover videos from Live Action are accurate, it seems that these events are more common than the public realizes.
FLASHBACK: A few weeks ago, this is how much press the story was getting…
The picture, for what it’s worth, is of the reserved media seats at the Gosnell trial. It was taken by JD Mullane, a news writer and columnist for the Bucks County Courier Times, The Intel and the Burlington County (NJ) Times. He says:
Sat through a full day of testimony at the Kermitt Gosnell trial today. It is beyond the most morbid Hollywood horror. It will change you.
I was surprised by the picture and asked “really?” He responded “Local press was there, Inky, PhillyMag, NBC10 blogger. Court staff told me nobody else has shown up.” (via Breitbart)
If it weren’t for grassroots pro-life activists and conservative media, hardly anyone would know about this trial.
