BREAKING: Benghazi consulate was ‘working with al-Qaeda’
Senator Paul has been roundly criticized for asking questions that go deeper than the establishment Republican talking points on Benghazi–even as far back as January.
During a congressional hearing, Paul asked Hillary Clinton if the CIA was sending weapons from Benghazi into other countries. Clinton replied that Paul would have to ask the CIA.
Well, it turns out, the other shoe is about to drop in the Benghazi scandal. While this will be no surprise to followers of Senator Rand Paul and alternative media, these revelations will be shocking to the typical low-information voter…
***Former diplomats inform PJM the new revelations concentrate in two areas — what Ambassador Chris Stevens was actually doing in Benghazi and the pressure put on General Carter Ham, then in command of U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and therefore responsible for Libya, not to act to protect jeopardized U.S. personnel. (See below how Sen. Rand Paul has been implying there was more to this story.)
Stevens’ mission in Benghazi, they will say, was to buy back Stinger missiles from al-Qaeda groups issued to them by the State Department, not by the CIA. Such a mission would usually be a CIA effort, but the intelligence agency had opposed the idea because of the high risk involved in arming “insurgents” with powerful weapons that endanger civilian aircraft.
Hillary Clinton still wanted to proceed because, in part, as one of the diplomats said, she wanted “to overthrow Gaddafi on the cheap.”
The former diplomat who spoke with PJ Media regarded the whole enterprise as totally amateurish and likened it to the Mike Nichols film Charlie Wilson’s War about a clueless congressman who supplies Stingers to the Afghan guerrillas. “It’s as if Hillary and the others just watched that movie and said ‘Hey, let’s do that!’” the diplomat said.
He added that he and his colleagues think the leaking of General David Petraeus’ affair with his biographer Paula Broadwell was timed to silence the former CIA chief on these matters.
Regarding General Ham, military contacts of the diplomats tell them that AFRICOM had Special Ops “assets in place that could have come to the aid of the Benghazi consulate immediately (not in six hours).”Ham was told by the White House not to send the aid to the trapped men, but Ham decided to disobey and did so anyway, whereupon the White House “called his deputy and had the deputy threaten to relieve Ham of his command.”
Was Senator Paul on top of this story before anyone else? This video is from May 9th:
On May 9th, Paul responded to questions on CNN: “Were they trying to obscure that there was an arms operation going on at the CIA annex? I’m not sure exactly what was going on, but I think questions ought to be asked and answered, and I’m a little curious when employees of the State Department are told by government officials they shouldn’t testify and then they are sort of sequestered and kept away from testimony, so I think there may be more to this.”
*At this point, these are only credible allegations. Keep your eyes on the PJ story, above…
