Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. fielded a potpourri of questions from President Barack Obama’s former top political aide, David Axelrod, on Tuesday.
Here’s his 4 most illuminating answers to questions at the University of Chicago’s Institute of Politics:
1. On whether he’d eliminate the Department of Education as president:
“I don’t think you’d notice if the whole department were gone tomorrow.”
2. On GOP legislative moves to restrict early voting in states:
“Republicans who want to make their whole thing eliminating early voting, I think it’s a mistake.”
3. On whether he’d sign a law restricting abortion rights:
“I think where the country is, is somewhere in the middle. We’re not changing any of the laws until the country is persuaded otherwise.”
4. On climate change:
“Someone is an ignoramous who would say, ‘Oh we had three hurricanes this year, this proves that somehow the climate is warming.’ The earth’s 4.5 billion years old and you’re going to say we had four hurricanes and that proves a theory?”
