From NSA to Drones it’s the best of times, worst of times

In regards to civil liberties (Constitutional rights), today has been a disaster. The Senate voted 53-45 to confirm David J. Barron as a Federal judge for the First U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. Mr. Barron is the author of a memo (still hidden in secret) justifying a drone attack against American citizens. Citizens not engaged in active combat on a battlefield.

It was the best of times…

How am I going to spin this in a positive direction? Well, I’ll put it this way. In no other period of time in the last 100 years would these issues be exposed on such a wide scale. Even in mainstream articles about the passage of the ‘USA Freedom Act’ you’ll find dissenting quotes from Sen. Paul and the fact that even Facebook and Google withdrew their support. Imagine that. Perhaps we shouldn’t look to government for the answers…
