Drudge Stirs things up with Rand Paul vs Mitt Romney
In previous years, The Drudge Report, and presumably Matt Drudge, has had a thing for supporting Mitt Romney when the chips were down for the establishment Republican. There might be some cracks in that allegiance if one reads the tea leaves in the phrasing of the question Drudge posted on Facebook today. In less than three hours, the post already had 2,466 comments with Rand Paul, so far, taking the lead with liked comments.
Senator Paul hasn’t been shy about throwing punches in the political realm. Here’s what this was all about:
Paul, a likely 2016 rival, told a Fox News Radio interviewer Monday that Romney’s promise to be a “conservative alternative” to former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush won’t wash and the former Massachusetts governor’s time has passed.
“If (Romney) runs to the right of Jeb Bush, he’ll still be to the left of the rest of the party, so it may be a difficult spot to occupy,” Paul told John Gibson.
“Look, I like Governor Romney, I like him personally, I think he is a good person, I think he was a great businessman,” Paul said. “But you know that’s yesterday’s news.” – Courier Journal
