That poll is bunk
Planned Parenthood supporters are loudly proclaiming results of a Huffington Post poll they claim shows, “Nearly two-thirds of American voters said they oppose a Republican proposal to strip federal funds from Planned Parenthood after the release of two undercover “sting” videos.”
Once you cruise by the fact that this is a poll commissioned by Planned Parenthood…
Let’s just cut to the chase and go straight to the actual words used to conduct this poll. By the way, you won’t find these words in the article. Would you call this a straight forward question?
Some Republicans in Congress say that because of the undercover videos released by the Center for Medical Progress, there should be an immediate vote to end all government funding for Planned Parenthood, including for services Planned Parenthood provides, such as cancer screenings and family planning. Do you strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree, or strongly disagree with the Republicans who say Congress should vote immediately vote to end all government funding for Planned Parenthood, including for services Planned Parenthood provides, such as cancer screenings and family planning?
Right out of the gate, you can see the pollster using techniques to bias the results. Did you notice the word, “Republican” was used twice and, well what do you know, the word, “abortion” wasn’t even used? Read the full details straight from the self-proclaimed liberal pollster here.
If you didn’t already hang up the phone (they called 800 people) during that long question, what the average person probably heard was something like,
Some Republicans say that because of some video on Youtube they want to take away money for cancer screenings and health services and family vacation planning…do you agree with those Republicans (and hate women)?
Okay, I’m being a little silly, but I don’t think I’m that far off from the impression left by that poll. But, guess what, you don’t have to take my word for it. Huffington Post, herself, has a poll with very clear wording on abortion that shows, “Most Americans would favor sweeping new national restrictions on abortion after the 20th week of pregnancy, according to a new HuffPost/YouGov poll.”
Both libertarians and conservatives can surely agree that Planned Parenthood should not be receiving federal funding from tax payers who find abortion abhorrent. And in the case above, a majority of Americans find abortion of a baby that could survive outside of the womb unacceptable.
But what about the War on Women and just look at that lady in the sun-glasses with the can-do attitude holding that mass-produced pink sign!
No doubt, Planned Parenthood is good at branding themselves, after all, women like pink, right?
How about a homemade sign and getting government officials on record, “If Planned Parenthood aborts a baby that is advanced enough to survive outside of the womb, do you support that?” All that pink can’t hide the blood.
