Russia taunts US on claim missiles landed in Iran
Splashed all over western media is the claim by U.S. officials that Russian missiles mistakenly landed in Iran. Here’s how Russia Today is handling the claim:

The Russian Defense Ministry quickly denied the claim:
Unlike CNN, we don’t report quoting anonymous sources, but we show launches of our missiles and the targets they hit in real-time mode…No matter how unpleasant and unexpected it is for our colleagues in the Pentagon and Langley, our strike yesterday with precision-guided weapons at ISIS infrastructure in Syria hit its targets.
Iran, so far, also denies the claim, calling the accusations part of the west’s “psychological war.”

I don’t know what the truth is in this situation. How could we possibly know? Do we trust U.S. officials to believe a story like this from unnamed officials without evidence? I’m leaning towards, “No.” But why would U.S. officials make up a story like this? Are they that desperate to spin something negative? I’m guessing the goal was to paint the intervention as a reckless action that could trigger a wider war.
