Ryan and Rubio give in to Trump
UPDATE 5/12/16 12PM: Now, Paul Ryan has surrendered to the Trump. While I’m not a huge fan of Trump, anything that depresses the arch-neocons, William Kristol and Jennifer Rubin is probably best for the country. In short, the establishment is starting to align behind Trump because Hillary is in heap big trouble. More on that down below….
Paul Ryan on Trump: “Here’s what we agree on. A Hillary Clinton presidency would be a disaster for this country.” https://t.co/XglzWIuJSe

This is one of the most depressing press conferences I’ve ever seen.

Marco Rubio decides to take the Trump package. Sorry, His words.
There’s so much going on here. First, I see this as a sign the establishment has been vanquished, for now. Two polls now show that the party (the people who vote) are firmly opposed to the establishment’s push for a third party run.
That Rubio would support Trump at this early stage really surprised me. But like petty dukes and duchesses, the establishment is now scrambling around to get in good graces with the new (albeit temporary) king.
I think the neocons now realize that…
A: The third party push is not doable at this late date and running a moderate would further marginalize them (and only hurt Hillary).
B: Hillary is going to get crushed by Trump.
Polls already show Trump essentially tied with Hillary and a sizable portion of Sanders supporters say they’ll turn to Trump if/when Hillary loses the nomination. From HuffPost:
Donald Trump’s support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party’s presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
Don’t get me wrong. Donald Trump is likely a disaster waiting to happen. That said, he does have refreshing impulses when it comes to foreign policy like; opposing the Iraq War, staying out of Syria and recognizing that our interventions fueled the rise of ISIS. (He will hit Hillary hard over all of these issues.) UPDATE: Check out this Intercept article predicting how Trump will destroy Hillary on foreign policy.
Trump surges in support to almost draw even with Clinton in national poll https://t.co/mMrXExQAMu via @HuffPostPol They’re equally odious.

Mark my words, Trump is going to destroy Hillary on foreign policy. And remember, this is Trump talking to Republican voters during the red-meat Republican primary:
