Twitter can’t stop #DNCLeaks
If you were on Twitter last night, you may have noticed some odd things going on with trending hashtags on the left of your screen. (If you are new to the #DNCLeaks story, go check out this excellent synopsis from The Intercept and scan the last 24 hrs of tweets from WikiLeaks.)
One more bit of housekeeping before we look further…two points, actually. Just imagine the response if these emails were from senior Republican officials. Would there be silence in the mainstream media regarding alleged confirmation of a ‘rigged system’ and actual bigotry? Finally, the DNC has a charter with bylaws plainly laid out. Here’s one of them,
In the conduct and management of the affairs and procedures of the Democratic National Committee, particularly as they apply to the preparation and conduct of the Presidential nomination process, the Chairperson shall exercise impartiality and evenhandedness as between the Presidential candidates and campaigns. The Chairperson shall be responsible for ensuring that the national officers and staff of the Democratic National Committee maintain impartiality and evenhandedness during the Democratic Party Presidential nominating process. (Article 5, Section 4)
The Washington Examiner reports, “#DNCLeaks” was trending, with more than 250,000 tweets about it on the platform. By Friday evening, it vanished completely from the site’s “trending” bar for at least 20 minutes. It returned as “#DNCLeak” after users erupted, though it was too late to quell their rage.”
A Bernie Sanders supporter responded responded to my tweet,
@irootsorg @stoner420peace that’s how twitter divides a group in two.
Only use #DNCLeaks

But it was too late. The story was spilling out everywhere and largely driven by disaffected Bernie Sanders voters—not just Trump supporters. So now we watch the reactions…

Here’s an admirable attempt at two deflections…
Refresh this post later this afternoon and evening and I’ll post more reaction videos as they come in. If you find one, leave a comment. In the meantime, check out the head-spinning comments on the leftist blog, DailyKos regarding this story.
UPDATE: Here’s more of the clip of Debbie Dingell stammering her deflection of #DNCLeaks:
Here’s an embedded search of both #WikiLeak and #WikiLeaks via Twitter. Caution, can’t guarantee you won’t see obscene stuff in an automated search:
