President Obama is not doubling down on FBI criticism

This is a little surprising. The White House Press Secretary made it very clear, today, that the president still holds FBI Director Comey in high regard.

“The President doesn’t believe that Director Comey is intentionally trying to influence the outcome of an election,” Earnest said. “The President doesn’t believe that he’s secretly strategizing to benefit one candidate or one political party. He’s in a tough spot and he’s the one who will be in a position to defend his actions in the face of significant criticism…”

This statement from the White House is a strong departure from the rhetoric of Hillary Clinton and top DNC figures like Sen. Harry Reid. Sen. Reid is pushing a conspiracy theory that the FBI is suppressing information on Trump’s ties to Putin. Always the Russians.
