The Deep State pens an Op-ed in NYT

The New York Times is breathlessly publishing an op-ed it claims is from a top official within the Trump administration. In short, it reads like another long memo from Professor Comey expressing his “shock” at the uncouth President Trump.

Let’s take a look at some of the most pithy and hilarious responses to this op-ed on Twitter. (Down below)

The best responses tend to be from from Bernie Sanders supporters, by the way:

First, go read it for yourself and I’ll share my thoughts…

After the dramatic introduction, we read,

The root of the problem is the president’s amorality. Anyone who works with him knows he is not moored to any discernible first principles…Although he was elected as a Republican, the president shows little affinity for ideals long espoused by conservatives: free minds, free markets and free people. At best, he has invoked these ideals in scripted settings. At worst, he has attacked them outright.

Now, I’m of two minds, at this point. Part of me is like, “Yeah, that’s why I didn’t vote for him—and I’m really glad you’re there to argue for ‘first principles,’ as you claim.” (Don’t worry, I was endlessly pleased that the warmonger, Hillary Clinton, was beaten.)

But then I think, “Wait a minute, why are you writing this anonymously? Why can’t you just keep your head down and do the good job you claim to be doing?”

If the nation is in such a crisis from the president’s leadership, shouldn’t you resign and make your claim in a public press conference? I mean, come on…if it’s as bad as you say!

My suspicions are growing…

Do you think it’s just by accident that Jeb! (c) and Hillary inc. were roundly defeated two years ago?

The NYT Op-ed continues:

…In addition to his mass-marketing of the notion that the press is the “enemy of the people,” President Trump’s impulses are generally anti-trade and anti-democratic.

Well, well, well…Anonymous goes on to repeat the “enemy of the people” trope and I’m left again wondering why this person doesn’t resign and take up a job at CNN or MSNBC?

Sure, the phrase is combative, but let’s remember what was omitted from the quotation marks. “The FAKE NEWS media…is not my enemy, it is the enemy of the American People!”

Fake news, you ask? Remember that claim about “17 intelligence agencies?”

For many of us, when we see the conspiracy mongering and hyperbole by the MSM, we see desperate partisans attempting to overturn an election. These are, indeed, enemies of the will of the American people.

I could go on, but let’s dig in to the part where Anonymous truly shows his cards. Towards the end, Anonymous writes:

Senator John McCain put it best in his farewell letter. All Americans should heed his words and break free of the tribalism trap…We may no longer have Senator McCain. But we will always have his example — a lodestar for restoring honor to public life.

The same McCain who never met a bomb he didn’t want to drop? The Senator who even sang, “Bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb Iran?” The McCain who openly met with and armed terrorist groups in Syria? At the very least, we know these arms got into the hands of ISIS.

Backing up a bit before the obligatory McCain worship, we get some strong #DeepState tells. At one point, it get’s so obvious that Anonymous feels forced to invoke the phrase!

This isn’t the work of the so-called deep state. It’s the work of the steady state.

Before I comment any further, let’s get some context from an enlightening exchange between Glenn Greenwald and a BBC (very establishment) journalist. This gets right to the heart of the alleged Deep State scandal. Watch the whole exchange regarding how the infamous Steele Dossier came to be published in the MSM.

Back to the Op-ed:

In public and in private, President Trump shows a preference for autocrats and dictators, such as President Vladimir Putin of Russia and North Korea’s leader, Kim Jong-un…

Sorry, Anonymous, we had an election and the warmongers from both parties all lost. Is there really anything else to say about this?

Now the back-pedal:

…the rest of the administration is operating on another track, one where countries like Russia are called out for meddling and punished accordingly…

On Russia, for instance, the president was reluctant to expel so many of Mr. Putin’s spies as punishment for the (alleged, I add) poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain. He complained for weeks about senior staff members letting him get boxed into further confrontation with Russia, and he expressed frustration that the United States continued to impose sanctions on the country for its malign behavior. But his national security team knew better — such actions had to be taken, to hold Moscow accountable.

Good grief! Looks to me like the Deep State is getting their way and a somewhat rational man is saying, “Hey, maybe antagonizing a nuclear power isn’t a great idea?”

Take a look at these budget facts almost never noted by MSM:

Since taking office, the Trump administration and Congress—citing the Russian challenge as one of their major rationales—have increased the military budget by about $80 billion, or roughly 13 percent, the largest increase since the aftermath of 9/11, and 70 percent greater than the entire Russian military budget of $47 billion.

Additionally, Trump has reportedly asked for a “black budget” of over $80 billion for covert operations…And Trump has, again, asked to increase the military budget by even more—to $716 billion—for 2019. All this, of course, is omitted from (NYT’s) piece, which largely paints the United States as bumbling around without any idea how to combat the always-one-step-ahead-of-us Russians. (From Fair.org)

It should be noted that these budgets have and will be approved by most of the Democrats in congress. So much for that #Resistance.

In closing, this is just embarrassing. Listen, Mr. Anonymous, put up or shut up. If things are so dire, you should publicly resign and hold a press conference. CNN will take you, trust me.
