Froggy Fresh aka Krispy Kreme about to surpass Slim Shady?
The world has waited with baited breath. And, alas, the rapper Krispy Kreme, aka Froggy Fresh, has just dropped some new rap tracks on the universe. Has western culture received it’s redemption from Hannah Montana? Perhaps.
(If you don’t know anything about Froggy Fresh/Krispy Kreme, scroll down to watch the video at the end of the post.)
Same Old Kid, Mike’s Mom & Er. The official videos aren’t up yet, but the first 3 songs of 2013 will play on this playlist:
Life has taken a dark turn in the Froggy Fresh universe. I don’t want to give it away, but a member of Money Maker Mike’s family doesn’t survive the second song, Mike’s Mom.
Here’s what was posted on Facebook:
The song that comes out this month, and the two-part songs that comes out in March/May are now on iTunes under the name froggy fresh. As always, they will also be available for free download when the videos drop in January/March/May.
– SPOILER ALERT – It looks to be no secret that Froggy Fresh’s real identity is Tyler Cassidy. The name is listed as the copyright holder right there–for all to see–on iTunes! Then again, maybe Tyler Cassidy is, himself, a persona…or at the very least a reptilian.
For those new to Krispy Kreme aka Froggy Fresh, you should start out with his first video:
It’s tempting to just laugh Krispy Kreme off as a troll or a joke. Well, I’d like to see you pull off the line, “Yeah, yep, yep, he had a knuckle sandwich for lunch,” (Watch that killer line here.) with a straight face–all the while making music out of it. Most ridiculous of all, is to see music critics waste time writing up posts claiming to expose the persona of Krispy Kreme as a fraud. Isn’t that what hip-hop is?
An adopted persona that embodies a narrative? And here’s a guy doing all this while poking fun at the whole genre of hip-hop. And, yeah, I’m still not sure if he’s not just some creative autistic kid in the South…I also recommend Denzel Washington and Haters Wanna Be Me. No blog post can ever do justice to the force that is Krispy Kreme. If you are intrigued, spend an hour like I did, taking him in for yourself on Youtube.
Because you wanna be cool like me, right….?
