Historic NSA debate 7pm ET tonight!

Tonight at 7:00 PM EST, an historic debate will take place on the following statement, “Be it resolved: State surveillance is a legitimate defense of our freedoms.” Participants will be Alan Dershowitz and Ex-NSA director Michael Hayden arguing in support with Glenn Greenwald and Alexis Ohanian in opposition to the resolution.

Unlike most events featuring Glenn Greenwald, who has reason to fear international air travel, this event will feature these men together in the same room. Sparks are likely to fly. Here’s an already ill-timed quote from Greenwald today,

“I consider him (Michael Hayden) and Alan Dershowitz two of the most pernicious human beings on the planet. I find them morally offensive. There’s an element of hypocrisy to being in the same room with them, treating them as if I have outward respect, because I don’t.”
