Rand Paul Pimps his Hemp Shirt
Early yesterday morning, before Kentucky’s Annual Ham Breakfast at the State Fair, Senator Rand Paul and Agriculture Commissioner James Comer held a press conference to announce their joint efforts to bring the legal production of Industrial Hemp back to Kentucky. They were joined by Ky. State Senators Joey Pendleton (D) and Dan Seum (R).

While disappointing many Ron Paul supporters with his endorsement of Mitt Romney, Rand Paul has continued to champion many of his father’s principles. Rand maintains that, from the moment he ran for office, he had promised wary would-be-backers that he would endorse the GOP’s presidential nominee. His father’s supporters are quick to point out that he could have waited till after the convention. No doubt, Rand’s loyalty has had its benefits. He is set to speak in prime time at the GOP convention in Tampa on Monday Wednesday night (between 7-8pm).
While endorsing the establishment of establishment candidates, Rand’s voting and advocacy record is far from the big government mainstream of his party. Here are a few of his memorable actions:
- Calling for an audit of the Pentagon.
- Filibustering the Patriot Act.
- Opposing domestic drones without a judge approved warrant.
- Introduced the Senate version of Audit the Fed.
- Proposed two bills to end the TSA.
- Calling for decreases in military spending.
- Amendment to prevent war with Iran.
It will be interesting to hear how Rand Paul uses his platform at the GOP convention.

Hmmpf on Hemp.
If he called for an audit of the Pentagon he needs to support the Manchin-Coburn AUDIT THE PENTAGON ACT introduced in the Senate on August 3rd, and push it into the Republican Convention too! To end Big Government it is necessary to AT LEAST audit the Pentagon and its gross over and unaccountable spending. THAT should be the priority to help get the Leviathan of Big Government off our backs.
