Rand Paul Seeks to take NSA to the Supreme Court

Today, on Fox News Sunday, Senator Rand Paul announced a plan to seek to have the Supreme Court rule on the legality of the NSA’s widespread spying by starting a massive class action lawsuit.

(He) called the National Security Agency’s monitoring of telephone call logs and the Internet  an “extraordinary invasion of privacy.”

The NSA is monitoring more than “a billion phone calls a day,” an alarming number that is a violation of the Fourth Amendment, the Kentucky Republican said, adding that he and a growing number of Americans want to stand up against a “snooping government” increasingly demanding private records…

The IRS scandal and the NSA monitoring, Paul said show a “pattern” of a government that has too much unchecked power. – via Politico.

Last week:

Rand Paul announced he will introduce the Fourth Amendment Restoration Act of 2013, which ensures the Constitutional protections of the Fourth Amendment are not violated by any government entity (Reason). Of course, these actions are more for theatrics–if congress would follow the Constitution in the first place, this kind of spying would have never taken place.
