My recap of events at CPAC
This is worthy of a separate post. Many on the freedom/liberty side, think that Sen. Paul hasn’t gone far enough to criticize our overseas drone policy and the resulting blowback. If you look carefully, Paul has been mentioning the issue—one step at a time…

Pat Caddell and Doug Schoen: Rand Paul is a 2016 frontrunner
National Rifle Association President David Keene told the 2013 Conservative Political Action Conference that the Republican Party must embrace libertarian trailblazers like Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., and other factions of conservatism, or it will die.

Ann Coulter on now…straw poll results soon….
It’s hard to know for sure, but the buzz is strong for either Senator Rubio or Paul winning at the straw poll. The questions that accompanied the poll were very interesting. They focused on, besides the social conservative vs. fiscal conservative debate, how and when drones should be used. The very fact that the poll tackled those issues shows you the influence of Sen. Paul on framing the debate here with this key conservative group.

Great vid from Reason:
Court deals blow to CIA drone secrecy
(interesting development)
For now, the Central Intelligence Agency can still maintain its official silence on whether it uses armed drones. But a new court decision Friday could force the agency to provide some information about what kind of records they have on the subject and spell out why it’s not required to say more about them.
In the first judicial blow to secrecy surrounding the Obama Administration’s armed drone program, a three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit unanimously rejected the CIA’s claim that it could refuse to confirm or deny whether it possesses any records related to drone strikes.

Ha ha! File this under #RandPaulProblems

Amazing the effects of the Liberty Movement. McConnell embraces legalizing hemp and he #StandsWithRand on drone policy.
http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/cpac-mcconnell-embraces-rand_707639.html
Mitch McConnell, the leader of the GOP minority in the Senate, struck an upbeat tone in his Friday morning address to the conservative activists gathered at CPAC. “Friends, this is a moment of renewal. I truly believe it,” he said. In this era of new beginning, McConnell is seeking his sixth Senate term next year, and the 71-year-old conservative Republican is embracing his much younger Kentuckian, Rand Paul.
Flashback to earlier today. Rick Santorum speaks at CPAC 2013. Seemingly a support of monarchy vs. the French Revolution, curious.
Congrats to Julie Borowski for winning blogger of the year!

We just invested for a much needed external hard drive to assist with video work. I want to give our viewers a chance to help us out to cover this. Please help us out if you can. Just 4 people chipping in will cover it! Are you glad Aaron was at CPAC to hand out those Stand With Rand stickers?
Well, show us by standing just a wee bit with Aaron!
Some raw video from CPAC I took just as I arrived. This is my little camera for stuff on the fly…not intended to be fancy. Hope you enjoy! (check back the video is new and may be processing)

Mitt Romney is up at 1pm *Watch all of this live in the live stream, above.
Lindsey Graham Speaks around 12 noon…
What questions would you like to see asked, if there is a chance?
Judge Napolitano’s analyses…
“The GOP of old has grown stale and moss-covered,” Paul said. “I don’t think we need to name any names here, do we?”
Paul also offered an extensive defense of his 13-hour filibuster last week — the same effort that drew the ire of McCain and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). Over the course of those 13 hours, Paul pushed the Obama administration to clarify that it wouldn’t use drones against non-combatant U.S. citizens on American soil.
“To those who would dismiss this debate as frivolous, I say tell that to the heroic young men and women who have sacrificed their limbs and lives,” Paul said. “Tell it to Sergeant J.D. Williams … who sacrificed himself to save his fellow soldiers. Tell J.D., who lost both legs and an arm; tell him his sacrifice was great but that we had to suspend the Bill of Rights he fought for.
“Yes, the filibuster was about drones, but also about much more. Do we have a Bill of Rights or not? Do we have a Constitution or not, and will we defend it?”
Some random responses from people…this video is from Current or the Guardian?
Meanwhile, WAR DRUMS:
JERUSALEM (AP) — Iran is about a year away from developing a nuclear weapon and the United States remains committed to doing everything in its power to prevent that from happening, President Barack Obama said in an exclusive interview aired Thursday on Israeli TV.
Not that it matters, but Rick Santorum now not standing with Rand.
“I disagree with Sen. Paul’s isolationist policies and believe that the most important role of our president is to keep us safe,” Santorum told Politico.
Interesting…several tables supporting drafting Judge Napolitano to run for president in 2016 – at CPAC. RevPAC is now under new ownership pushing this. Seems like a good idea to get more liberty people on the stage to me.
CPAC is always creepy…so you get stories like this…
Rand Paul Is So Hot Right Now (Daily Beast)

Where I was filming from, I had no idea he had jeans on!…
Some guy named Scott Valentine…lol
@stcyrlyme2 Rand Paul reminds me of a brat teenager who wants to trash the house while the parents are away. And then blame everyone else.

Fair to say Senator Paul is winning this poll…
Fox Poll: Who will win CPAC 2013
Rand Paul: “The GOP Of Old Has Grown Stale And Moss-Covered” – Real Clear Politics
The GOP of old has grown stale and moss-covered. I don’t think we need to name any names, do we? Our party is encumbered by an inconsistent approach to freedom. The new GOP will need to embrace liberty in both the economic and the personal sphere. If we’re going to have a Republican party that can win, liberty needs to be the backbone of the GOP. We must have a message that is broad, our vision must be broad, and that vision must be based on freedom.
There are millions of Americans, young and old, native and immigrant, black, white and brown, who simply seek to live free, to practice a religion, free to choose where their kids go to school, free to choose their own health care, free to keep the fruits of their labor, free to live without government constantly being on their back. I will stand for them. I will stand for you. I will stand for our prosperity and our freedom, and I ask everyone who values liberty to stand with me. Thank you. God bless America.
CPAC 2013 is running on schedule…a little birdie told me that there will be a good drone joke at the start of the speech…Don’t Drone Me Bro?
(Campus Reform) A conservative student activist is asking attendees of this year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to stand throughout Sen. Rand Paul’s (R-Ky.) speech, as sign of solidarity for his historic 13-hour filibuster on the floor of the U.S. Senate on Wednesday…(1:30 pm Thursday)

Supporters of Senator Rand Paul planning to meet in the main ballroom directly after Paul speaks to create a group video… (Paul is slated to speak at 1:30pm) Chanting #StandWithRand I presume? and perhaps “…2016?”
