Sen. Rand Paul to endorse Mark Sanford, LIVE debate tonight 7pm

According to CNN, Sen Paul is set to endorse Mark Sanford officially on Tuesday. Ron Paul has already endorsed Sanford.

Sanford faces a tough race against Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch despite the district’s Republican lean. He’s struggled to overcome his 2009 extramarital affair, and recent trespassing allegations from his ex-wife have also hurt his bid in what appears to be a tight race. The election will take place a week from Tuesday, and the two are set for their first and only debate of the campaign this evening. (from The Hill.)

Jack Hunter on Sanford:
Sanford has always been a conservative’s conservative. When he was the governor of South Carolina, I don’t think there was a political figure I cheered for more often with the exception of Ron and Rand Paul (both of whom I would later work for). When Sanford made national headlines by standing up to President Barack Obama by refusing to accept federal “stimulus” money for South Carolina, conservatives across the nation cheered, although he was met with a mixed reaction from the GOP back home. (Truth be told, Sanford was never popular among the members of his own party in the Palmetto State.)
