IRS Scandal Expands, also targeted far left groups

(Bloomberg 6/24/13) The U.S. Internal Revenue Service used the terms “progressive,” “Israel” and “occupy” on internal documents that helped agency employees screen groups’ applications for tax-exempt status, according to IRS documents.

The disclosure adds a dimension to the controversy surrounding IRS scrutiny of applications for tax exemptions. The agency revealed last month that it had given extra attention to Tea Partygroups and other small-government advocates in a controversy that has eroded trust in the IRS.

(iroots.org) Already, establishment defenders are using these revelations to say, “See, there’s no scandal here!” The real story is that the Obama administration and it’s minions will target any group, left or right, that dares to question the status quo policies supported by the establishment in both parties. #NSA

Back in May, IRS Chief Miller claimed that the IRS did not have “targeting lists” that included words like, “progressive.” What’s going on here?
