Group seeks support to set the entire book of Psalms to music

Full disclosure: The founder of the blog you are reading is involved in this project, but I hope that makes you even more interested and happy to contribute!

Christian or not, I imagine you’ve encountered the towering beauty of the book of Psalms at one point or another in your life. Unlike most music today, popular or contemporary Christian, the Psalms contain a full spectrum of emotions and depictions of just about everything from whales to wild boars and insects. (Scroll down to hear music examples.)

What comes closer to depicting the feelings of depression and guilt over wrongdoing than,

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears. – Psalm 6:6

And the shattering darkness of Psalm 88 which ends with,

Darkness is my closest friend. (Yeah, it just ends!)

I could go on…and, of course, there are wonderful depictions of hope and grace.

I’d like to ask our readers (that means you!) to consider making a donation of $10 or $25. $10 gets you a digital download of the completed project and $25 gets you a physical copy mailed and a digital download.

But wait, isn’t this project going to take about 15-20 years? I think I forgot to mention that the first 10 Psalms are ready to record and you’ll get your recording in November 2015. There are other cool rewards to check out here.
Here’s an overview of the project:
