IU Law School Provides Counselors for Trump Trauma

Today, a student currently studying at the Maurer Law School at Indiana University forwarded me a department-wide email sent out last Thursday, two days after the presidential election. The student, who requested to remain anonymous, also reported that 20% of his fellow students missed class on the day following the election. The student expressed surprise that this would occur at such an elite school. The Maurer Law School is ranked as one of the top 10 law schools in the country. “You just don’t skip classes in law school,” he remarked in disbelief. #Infantilizing

Concerned parents can now breathe a little easier now that IU is joining the ranks of other universities holding “Cry-Ins,” canceling classes and midterms due to the traumatizing 2016 election results. Where’s the play-doh?

UPDATE: Another IU student sent us the following email:

Many in our community are suffering emotionally from the outcome of the presidential election. The CHG is offering a safe space for those seeking support as they process the many emotions associated with current events. Please feel free to drop in for peer support facilitated by counseling graduate students. The Center for Human Growth is located on the ground floor of the School of Education. Front office staff will direct you to the room once you have entered the suite.
